From the Earth to the Moon was an HBO miniseries back in 1998. The twelve episodes move through the Mercury and Apollo missions. It stays close to the facts, but is dramatized for more fun and interest. Each episode has a different style adding to the enjoyment.

Moves to a surgery scene...skip all the way until 28 minutes, there is nothing worth watching, and they continue to move back to surgery scenes. The bottom line is that Alan Shepard has menieres disease, can't be assigned to a mission, then has surgery to correct it and is assigned to Apollo 14.
